Quick Guide to Finding the Best Blender for Juicing at Home

Juicing your fruits / vegetables is undoubtedly one of the best ways to consume high amounts of nutritious produce without having to actually eat it.

Getting right to the point, the main goal of this article is to highlight one important fact; not all blenders blend the same.

Let’s go over some of the aspects to keep in mind when shopping for a new blender.

Nutritional Availability

It’s not so commonly known, but many blenders tend to obliterate a majority of the nutritious compounds we’re hoping to consume in our juice / blended drink.

Spinach, Strawberries, and Cherries in a Blender

Yupp, some blenders end up doing more harm than good.

The main factors the lead to nutrient degradation are;

1. Heat: When the blender is actively spinning, the compounds towards the bottom of the container can get very hot – hot enough to deteriorate a certain amount of phyto-compounds in your produce.

2. Oxidation: When exposed to oxygen, many fruits and vegetables tend to degrade at incrementally increasing rates.

Example: When you slice open an apple and leave it out at room temperature, you’ve probably got about a few hours (if that) until the apple starts to turn slightly discolored, then yellow, and eventually, brown.

When fruits and vegetables are thrown into certain high speed blenders, they experience extreme rates of oxygen as they’re cut and exposed to oxygen at much quicker speeds (and temperatures).

Combating Nutrient Loss

Considering these two aspects of nutrient degradation in mind, we’re on the lookout for blenders and juicers that offer the most efficient juicing process – from starting material (your fruits, vegetables, etc) to final product (botanical extract aka juice).

Blender

For blenders, one of the best options for optimal nutrient retention are “vacuum blenders”.

They’re basically just as they sound.

It’s a category of blenders that create a vacuum within the blending chamber before initiating the blending process.

Why Create a Vacuum Though?

Like we covered earlier, the two main factors that lead to nutrient loss in the juicing process are Heat and Oxidation.

By removing all the excess air in the chamber, you’re allowing a much less concentration of oxygen (and other gases present in your air environment) into your blend.

Along with that, you’re creating an environment for lower temperatures too – as there’s less heat transferred within the vacuum environment.

Browsing your Options

Now that we’ve covered a few reasons on why vacuum blenders help us get better juice out of our produce, let’s take a look at a few of our options while considering the best blender for juicing at home.

Kuvings SV-400 Vacuum Blender

The Kuvings SV-400 ranks as one of our favorite choices for vacuum blenders.

Rather than going into all the details and features ourselves, here's a video from John at DiscountJuicers - his 45min video goes into pretty much every aspect of the blender.

Tribest Dynapro

From the makers of the Tribest Greenstar Pro (our favorite option for slow, masticating juicers), the Dynapro vacuum blender lives up to the brand’s reputation of creating high quality, efficient extraction machines.

We'll let the expert himself get into the nitty gritty of the machine.

NuWave Moxie Commercial Blender

As the most economical option of the choices, the NuWave blender helps you get into the awesome world of nutritious blends at a lower cost.

Unfortunately, John didn't make a video about the NuWave Moxie blender, but we think the demonstration video on NuWave's youtube page is just as sufficient at showcasing the blender's features.

Though these are only a few of the options that are out there, start your research with these – as they’re trusted and reputable brands.
